Fitzgerald Leaves Corporate World and Founds Mom’s World
Two years ago Maryanne Fitzgerald commuted three hours a day to her job. Today, she spends the extra time with her son and daughter and building “Mom ’s World”. Fitzgerald reached the point in her career where she only saw her children a few hours a day. The financial gain for the job wasn’t worth the losses to her family. Stress was taking a toll, too.“ I would come home, stressed and tired from working, make dinner, put the kids to bed, only to do the whole thing over again the next day. I knew there had to be a better way.” So Mom’s World was born. There were some false starts getting rolling, says Fitzgerald. Giving up the job wasn’t hard, but giving up the income required her to find another way. “So I made the choice to quit my professional career and stay home, but I still wanted to bring in an income. Most people don’t realize for example, that Lysol is a pesticide, or that Johnson’s and Johnson’s baby shampoo contains formaldeyhyde and phenol which are known carcinogens. Mom’s World is dedicated to helping educate families and provide them with alternative products which are cheaper, safer, and work better than anything bought in a store.“ Today, Fitzgerald describes a typical day as juggling and time management. She considers time management to be the biggest key to success for a work at home mom. She advises, “Plan your day the night before. Write down at least 3 activities you will do the next day to move your business forward. Put it on your bedside table. Make sure it’s the last thing you see when you go to sleep, and the first thing you see when you wake up.” Starting Mom’s World has led to an incredible education on toxins in the home for Fitzgerald.
